St. Mary's Church or Mariakirken as it known in Norwegian language is the oldest building in Bergen. Built between 1130 and 1170, it is an outstanding example of Romanesque church. In 17th and 18th centuries the inner walls of church were covered by paintings. Many of them were removed during later restorations but some are still remain there.
